The smart and sophisticated resort of Cala D’Or is situated on the south east coast of Mallorca, 65km from the island’s capital city, Palma. The town is one of the most popular destinations on the largest island in the Balearic archipelago. In contrast with a number of tourist resorts across the island, Cala D’Or is world famous for it’s sense of style and refinement.

Originally founded as a fishing village, Cala D’Or was adopted by bohemians in the 1930s, forming an artists' colony. From this point the development of the town was dominated by the growth of the tourist industry, which remains the main point of focus for this Mediterranean coastal region. However, reflections of the town’s history still exist in the form of a busy, modern marina that is home to a large number of luxurious yachts and an excellent selection of galleries offering a diverse range of artwork from throughout Spain and Europe.

The fine town centre of Cala D’Or contains narrow streets that are lined with pine trees and traditional whitewashed buildings, a clear illustration of the classical architecture popular across Mallorca. A selection of the finest shops on the island can be found within the centre of Cala D’Or, including good quality leather shops and reasonable priced designer boutiques. Visitors seeking authentic local pottery and crafts will find these items widely available at the splendid Felanitx Market, which is held each Sunday in Cala D’Or.

For the majority of visitors each year the most significant features of the town are located along it’s spectacular coastal landscape. Cala D’Or proudly boasts seven fine beaches that consist of long stretches of fine golden sand sheltered by beautiful natural coves and lush pine forests.
